Social-Distanced Guided Fishing Trips

Here at Kirks Fly Shop Grand Lake, we are stoked to have reopened for the 2020 season! In our second year of business, we have a much greater selection of flies, fly rods, waders, spin fishing gear and tackle, and apparel here at the shop, and we invite you to stop on by. We are also the only fishing shop in Grand Lake where you can purchase a Colorado fishing license, and our staff will happily print one out for you so that you can get out on the water!

In addition, we are happy to be abiding by current state and county regulations through our social distanced guide trips. With every guided fly fishing trip we are currently offering around Grand Lake, we are able to take the following social distance measures to ensure the safety and well-being of each of our clients:

  • Clients are able to ride in their own vehicle and follow their guide to the fishing location
  • Our guides wear face protection throughout the entirety of the trip
  • Guides are able to instruct clients while maintaining 6 feet of distance
  • Our long-handle nets enable us to maintain that 6-foot distance when landing your fish!

We put this useful video together to demonstrate what a social distanced guided fishing tip looks like! It may seem a little unconventional, but our clients have been having a great time nonetheless.

Where Can I Expect a Guided Trip to Go?

Currently, the majority of our guided fly fishing trips are taking place on the Colorado River near Parshall and Kremmling. We have access to several sections of private water in the area, and also utilize the Pumphouse Recreation Area for guided fishing, which has been fishing great as of late.

We will be constantly monitoring the status of Rocky Mountain National Park, and our clients will be the first to know when we are permitted to enter again and fly fish some of the beautiful streams here on the western side of RMNP.

In the meantime, we would be happy to recommend some local areas outside of the National Park that have been fishing well. Our shop staff is full of experienced guides, and they would be happy to recommend some of their favorite flies and techniques for this time of year. Either give us a call, or stop by the shop in downtown Grand Lake!
